The Elder Academy has been co-organized by our school and Po Leung Kuk Lau Chan Siu Po District Elderly Community for more than 11 years. The Elder Academy enables our students to expand their social circle through serving the elders, achieve inter-generational inclusiveness, unite the elders and children, and cultivate the civic awareness of students to serve the community. Based on the concept of learning and serving the elderly, our academy has organised a variety of activities, including mobile phone classes, computer classes, painting classes, paper flower classes, knitting classes, soap-making classes, Chinese painting classes, and Ukulele classes, etc. These enable the elderly to make colourful use of their time, master new knowledge and new skills, and keep pace with the times. It also enables students to learn through service to boost their self-esteem, sense of accomplishment, and resilience.
