Champion of the 18th Hong Kong Cup Diplomatic Knowledge Competition

Members of the Civic Society, S5 YANG Shun, S3 ZENG Yulu, S2 CHEN Shaomin and JIANG George, participated in the finals of “The 18th Hong Kong Cup Diplomatic Knowledge Competition” on May 9 2026. With solid and extensive knowledge of diplomacy and excellent performance, they triumphed over the other finalist teams and won the Gold Award, bringing great honor to the school.

The event was co-organized by the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Education Bureau and the Better Hong Kong Foundation, under the theme “Diplomacy Carries the Mission, Youth Creates the Future”. The preliminary round attracted a record-breaking 88, 448 students from 295 primary and secondary schools across Hong Kong. The competition featured intense segments such as rapid-fire buzzer rounds and situational simulations. It provided a comprehensive assessment of the contestants' overall literacy in:

  • China's foreign policy
  • Hong Kong-related foreign affairs
  • National current affairs and dynamics
  • The landscape of international relations
  • Diplomatic protocol and etiquette

The students expressed that preparing for the competition gave them a deeper understanding of the latest developments in national diplomacy and shifts in the international situation. It significantly heightened their passion for international affairs, while further strengthening their sense of national belonging and national identity. As members of Hong Kong’s youth generation, we should:

  • Tell China's story well during cross-cultural exchanges.
  • Convey the nation's diplomatic philosophy of peace and friendship.
  • Continuously enhance their own international competitiveness.
  • Actively integrate into the overall development of the country, utilizing what they have learned in their youth to serve the nation and contribute to society.
